GoToMeeting - Online Meetings Made Easy

Today, with the complications and expenses that come with long distance travel, many companies have made the transition to video conferencing. This technology allows people on opposite sides of the world to speak to and see each other in real time from the comfort of their respective offices. This may seem like complicated technology, but it is actually quite simple.

The video input necessary for video conferencing to work can consist of either a normal video camera or a web cam, depending on the circumstances. There needs to be at least one camera in each location, although more may be necessary for larger conferences. Each location also needs at least one microphone on hand for audio input.

The video output for video conferencing is just as simple as the input. All that is needed to view another party during a video conference is a television set or computer monitor. There are even some movie theatres that rent out their facilities for video conferences that need to accommodate a large group of people. If the conference is being held at the office, all that is needed for audio output is a set of speakers.

In addition to the hardware, there is also software necessary for video conferencing. Sending video and audio over the Internet has the potential to take up a lot of space and time. It is necessary to have software that compresses the data before sending it. There are many software programs available that allow for a quick, high quality connection.

Video conferencing is not only simple, but it can be very beneficial to a business. It saves a great deal of money in travel expenses and keeps employees close to the office where they are needed most. Some companies may not want to it because it seems so complex, but once they understand how video conferencing works, they will surely make the switch and never look back.

In addition  to video conferencing, other technology to consider using for communication might include a computer video camera or wireless internet for laptops.
